Concert at Ohio Valley Filk Festival (OVFF) 34: Oct. 19-21, 2018
Interested in science fiction & fantasy and music? Consider joining me at OVFF, the Ohio Valley Filk Festival in Columbus, OH the weekend of Oct. 19-21, 2018.
I've attended OVFF off and on for many years. It's where I spend time with close friends, make new friends and share music. The weekend is full of laughter, songs, silliness, concerts, workshops, great conversation and (for many) late nights.
Over the years, OVFF has marked many events in my life. I still recall attending while six months pregnant with my firstborn, and years later bringing my sweetie Jim for my friends to meet. To put it simply, the filk community is my tribe. It's where I feel most accepted and loved for who I am, great and not-so-great.
After leaving filk for about a decade due to family and financial commitments, I returned to the community last year and yeah, it was amazing. So I am pleased and honored to have been asked to do a concert at this weekend, where I very much "grew up" as a musician, songwriter, performer and adult (I attended my first OVFF when I was I think...26 years old and I am turning 52 soon).
This year OVFF (as always) features a wonderfully diverse plate of musical guests. I encourage you to check it out! The convention programming, in addition to the "guest of honor" concerts, includes shorter concerts featuring individuals such as myself (and groups as well) both established and new to the community.
I don't yet know when my concert is, so I'll update this post with that information, when I find out.
